What a Kundli matching score means—and what it cannot tell you

Learn to interpret a Guna Milan score without turning points out of 36 into a relationship-success percentage.

Points are not a success probability

In the worked example below, 28.5 out of 36 means the selected eight factor rules allocated 28.5 points. Dividing by 36 does not establish a 79.17% chance of a successful relationship. The points describe traditional table comparisons, not a measured relationship outcome.

A high total can coexist with a zero in one factor. In the selected same-nakshatra example, full allocations elsewhere can still coexist with zero Nadi points. Conversely, a lower total tells you which traditional comparisons received fewer points; it does not demonstrate incompatibility in daily life.

Check the explanation behind a low score

First confirm the birth dates, times, places and A/B roles. Then read the eight rows rather than relying on a threshold from another website. The number alone does not show whether a difference comes from data entry, calculation settings or an alternative ruleset.

The free tool does not apply all regional cancellations. A reviewer can explain the displayed profile and identify where another tradition may differ. An expert response should explain its reasoning, not simply replace one unexplained number with another.

Keep practical decisions grounded in the relationship

Discuss communication, consent, boundaries, family expectations and how responsibilities will be shared. These conversations provide information that a birth chart does not measure. Do not use the chart score as evidence of somebody's worth, intentions, health or future behaviour.

If you want a record, the PDF preserves the factor explanations and chart reference. If you want help understanding a specific row, prepare a focused question for the optional written review. Buying either service is not required to see the free score.

Read the arithmetic behind a score of 28.5

This is an actual, non-saved calculation for two fictional people. It contains no customer data and is not a relationship outcome study. Both charts use True Chitra, whole-sign houses and the true node.

0 + 2 + 1.5 + 1 + 3 + 6 + 7 + 8 = 28.5. The shortfalls are 1 in Varna, 1.5 in Tara, 3 in Yoni and 2 in Graha Maitri: 7.5 in total. Check it again as 36 − 7.5 = 28.5.

What the total does and does not retain

Nadi contributes all 8 points here, yet the total is below 36. Neither the Nadi row nor the total reveals the other rows on its own. 28.5 ÷ 36 × 100 is about 79.17, but that is a proportion of traditional point weights, not a measured probability of relationship success.

The separate exceptions panel records a Mars condition for this sample; both the raw and adjusted Ashtakoota totals remain 28.5. An exception appearing does not always add points to the total.
