Birth charts and matching
Kundli calculations use Skyfield with the JPL DE440s ephemeris, the recorded local birth time and its historical timezone offset. The default sidereal reference is True Chitra, anchored to apparent Spica. Mean Lahiri is a separate option, using the IAE 1985 reference and IAU 1976 precession. Compare charts using the same reference, birth time, lunar-node convention and house system. Whole-sign, ascendant-starting equal houses and Sripati bhava centres are available. The North and South Indian diagrams remain sign charts; a separate table shows bhava placement. Supported birth dates begin on 1 January 1850 and end on the current date.
The sixteen divisions are D1, D2, D3, D4, D7, D9, D10, D12, D16, D20, D24, D27, D30, D40, D45 and D60, with the named Parashari rules from BPHS chapter 6. Hora uses the Sun/Moon division; D30 uses unequal portions. D60 counts forward from the natal sign. Fine divisions are sensitive to birth time. Vimshottari and Yogini timelines use 365.2425 days per year. Their subperiods are calculated from complete periods and then clipped at birth and the 120-year reporting boundary. Yogini repeats in 36-year cycles. Vimshottari includes a third level, Pratyantar, on request and in the PDF. Current periods and transitions use the birth timezone.
Planetary strengths
Shadbala shows six components for the seven classical planets. This profile uses whole-sign positional strength, actual ascendant and MC for directional strength, local mean solar time, sunrise-based day/night divisions and eight motion states. Moon, Mercury, Jupiter and Venus are treated as benefics for phase and aspect strength. The expanded result shows each contribution. Regional and software conventions can produce different totals.
Ashtakavarga includes seven unreduced planetary tables and their combined 337 points, with eight contributors to each table. It follows the Parasara tables in P.V.R. Narasimha Rao’s Vedic Astrology: An Integrated Approach. Nodes are excluded. Trikona and Ekadhipatya reductions, Rashi/Graha pindas and Shodhya pinda appear separately, preserving the raw 337-point table. Core Bhavabala follows BPHS 27.26–29: lord strength, direction and aspects. Later occupancy and rising adjustments are not included in this named profile.
Birth details and interpretation rules
Birth Panchang includes tithi, paksha, nakshatra, yoga, karana and the sunrise-based weekday lord. Planet conditions include dignity, moolatrikona, longitudinal combustion, age state, retrograde motion and vargottama. Graha and rashi aspects are listed separately. Seventeen named yoga formations identify their triggering placements and exclusions; they do not assign invented life predictions or a universal yoga score.
Matching conventions
Eight Ashtakoota factors contribute up to 36 points. Person A uses the traditional groom column and Person B the bride row, independently of gender identity. Swapping them can change directional factors. Mars checks and Papasamyam are shown separately from this score. Papasamyam counts Sun, Mars, Saturn and Rahu in houses 1, 2, 4, 7, 8 and 12 from the ascendant, Moon and Venus, with one point each. A second Papasamyam profile weights those references 1, 0.5 and 0.25, without dignity reductions. Selected Nadi, Bhakoot and own/exalted-Mars exceptions follow the Future Point manual and are listed separately: they never replace the original 36-point total. The regional section uses four named structural checks—Rajju, Vedha, Mahendra and Stree Deergha—not a ten-porutham total. Traditions differ on these rules.
Transits and time uncertainty
Transit exploration finds sign ingresses and retrograde/direct stations for Sun through Saturn, within a selected window of up to 366 days. Sade Sati identifies Saturn in the signs before, at and after the natal Moon; displayed intervals are clipped to that window. Birth-time sensitivity samples every minute up to an hour either side of the recorded instant. It compares ascendants, all sixteen divisions, the Moon and the first dasha transition. Changes between samples can be missed; this is not birth-time rectification.
What has been checked
Selected planetary, node and angle calculations have been compared with independent Swiss Ephemeris reference values at a 0.02-degree tolerance. The Ashtakavarga tables reproduce a published example; divisional boundaries, dasha continuity and published Shadbala component examples also have regression checks. This does not certify every possible chart or agreement with every traditional method.
Unknown birth times withhold ascendant, houses, divisional charts, strengths and dashas. When the required sunrise or sunset is absent, Shadbala is unavailable with an explanation. Matching points are traditional calculations, not a relationship-success percentage or a health, fertility or marriage decision.
