The eight Kootas in Guna Milan: what adds up to 36 points?
Read the eight factor allocations in Astrogyana's Ashtakoota profile, including Nadi, Bhakoot and directional comparisons.
An explanation of Astrogyana’s implemented methodology. Updated:
हिंदी में पढ़ेंRead allocations before reading the total
The maximum allocations are Varna 1, Vasya 2, Tara 3, Yoni 4, Graha Maitri 5, Gana 6, Bhakoot 7 and Nadi 8. Together they total 36. These weights belong to a traditional scoring system; a factor with more available points is not a scientific measure of its importance to a relationship.
Varna uses ranks derived from the Moon-sign elements. Vasya uses a five-group directional table. Tara counts inclusive nakshatra distances in both directions. Yoni uses the selected animal-group comparison table. These names label the calculation rules, not a person's social value or character.
Moon-sign lords, Gana, Bhakoot and Nadi
Graha Maitri compares the traditional natural relationships of the two Moon-sign lords. Gana uses the selected directional Deva, Manushya and Rakshasa table. A label in that table is not a diagnosis or a judgment of somebody's behaviour.
Under this profile, Bhakoot relationships 2/12, 5/9 and 6/8 receive zero; other relationships receive seven. Identical Nadi groups receive zero and different groups receive eight. Selected Nadi and Bhakoot exceptions appear in a separate panel and adjusted comparison; they do not overwrite the raw rows. Nadi is not a medical, genetic or fertility assessment.
Use the breakdown to ask a precise question
Two pairs can have the same total with different factor allocations. Read the rows, confirm the birth details and note any settings that differ from another service. A useful question for a reviewer is which rule produced a particular result and whether an alternative tradition treats it differently.
Mars-house flags are outside the eight-factor total. Adding or subtracting them from 36 would misrepresent the displayed model. Use the separate checks and the written limitations alongside the complete breakdown.
All eight factors worked through: how 28.5/36 is obtained
This is an actual, non-saved calculation for two fictional people. It contains no customer data and is not a relationship outcome study. Both charts use True Chitra, whole-sign houses and the true node.
Example updated: · north-india-basic-2026.2 · de440s-natal-2026.4
| Factor | Awarded | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Varna | 0 | 1 |
| Vasya | 2 | 2 |
| Tara | 1.5 | 3 |
| Yoni | 1 | 4 |
| Graha Maitri | 3 | 5 |
| Gana | 6 | 6 |
| Bhakoot | 7 | 7 |
| Nadi | 8 | 8 |
| Total | 28.5 | 36 |
0 + 2 + 1.5 + 1 + 3 + 6 + 7 + 8 = 28.5. The shortfalls are 1 in Varna, 1.5 in Tara, 3 in Yoni and 2 in Graha Maitri: 7.5 in total. Check it again as 36 − 7.5 = 28.5.
Check three rows by hand
- A's Aquarius air rank is 1; B's Sagittarius fire rank is 3. A is lower than B, giving 0/1 under this directional Varna rule.
- Both are in the Human Vasya group, whose Human/Human cell gives 2/2. The first 15° of Sagittarius belongs to this group; B is at 3.903936° Sagittarius.
- Dhanishta's Madhya and Mula's Adi Nadi groups differ, giving 8/8. This is a table result, not a health or fertility assessment.
