How the order of birth details affects matching
The tables are directional: Person A uses the traditional groom column and Person B the bride row, independently of gender identity. Swapping people can change Varna, Vasya and Gana. No caste information is requested.
Ashtakoota
Eight kootas, thirty-six gunas
Matching is built from eight kootas, each carrying a different weight: one guna for Varna, eight for Nadi. Together they make 36.
- Varna1 gunaOrder of the Moon-sign elements
- Vasya2 gunasThe five Vasya groups of the Moon signs
- Tara3 gunasCounting between the two birth stars
- Yoni4 gunasThe symbolic animal of each nakshatra
- Graha Maitri5 gunasFriendship of the Moon-sign lords
- Gana6 gunasDeva, Manushya or Rakshasa gana
- Bhakoot7 gunasDistance between the two Moon signs
- Nadi8 gunasAdi, Madhya or Antya nadi
Gunas are the tradition's language of matching. They do not measure a relationship's success, health or anyone's worth.
Read it together
Two births, one thread
It begins with the Moon
The reading compares where the Moon stood at each birth: its sign and its nakshatra. That is why both birth times matter.
Eight kootas, one language
Varna to Nadi, each koota looks at one traditional relationship between the two Moons. Read them together, not as a single number.
Let it open a conversation
No chart can measure love or promise its future. Use what you find to talk about temperament, family and the life you hope to build.
